MELAKA HOSTS NATIONAL CONFERENCE - ESQ 2000
IN CONJUNCTION WITH NATIONAL ENVIRONMENT WEEK AND WORLD STANDARDS DAY 2000

MELAKA : A two day national level conference and exhibition - ESQ 2000 - "Continuous Improvement in Environmental , Safety and Quality Management Systems Towards Excellence " will be held from 20 and 21 November , 2000 at Riviera Bay Resort , Melaka in Conjunction with National Environment Week ( Minggu Alam Sekitar Kebangsaan ) and World Standards Day ( Hari Piawaian Sedunia ) 2000 Celebration .

The ESQ 2000 is jointly organised by Melaka State Tourism Promotion Unit , The Chief Minister's Office and SAFEQ Integrated (M) Sdn. Bhd., and in collaboration with Department of Occupational Safety & Health ( DOSH ), SIRIM Berhad, National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health ( NIOSH ), National Productivity Corporation

( NPC ), Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Department of Town & Country Planning , Peninsular Malaysia ( DTCP ), Kuantan Municipal Council ( MPK ), Infineon Technologies ( Malaysia ) Sdn. Bhd., Sarawak Shell Berhad / Sabah Shell Petroleum Co. Ltd.and Asean Bintulu Fertilizer Sdn. Bhd.

The Conference has been structured into " 3 in 1 Action Plan Forum " and aimed to promote Continuous Improvement in Environmental, Safety and Quality Management Systems Towards Excellence .

The main Focus is to achieve Developed Nation status in the New Millennium as inspired by Vision 2020 - a Cleaner , Safer and Productive Sustainable Development , Technologies and Industries are among the pre-requisites for its realization .

In this era of competitiveness , borderless economies and trades , and forthcoming implementation of AFTA 2002 / 3 , only productive organisations delivering quality goods and services can prevail , prosper and grow .

The ESQ 2000 is the first to be held in Malaysia and in Asia Pacific , is unique and challenging , at which the integration and synergy of the Environment , Safety and Quality will be deliberated in a single Forum ( 3 in 1 ) . The Chief Minister of Melaka, Datuk Wira Mohd. Ali Rustam has been invited to officiate the Opening and delivering the Keynote Address on Monday 21 November , at Riviera Bay Resort , Melaka.

ESQ 2000 is open to All, in and outside Melaka, as it is a National Event . The Exhibition is also open to Public. ESQ 2000 will provide a Forum for all Sectors to put forwards their recommendations and formulate an Action Plan to support joint effort in ensuring the Cleanest - Safest - Productive - Sustainable Development , Technologies and Industries in Malaysia.

Prime Minister's Quality Award Winners Companies ( such as Infineon Technologies , Sarawak Shell , Asean Bintulu Fertilizer, Kuantan Municipal Council , etc. ) will present their Case - Studies and sharing their expertise and experiences with others for achieving excellence records in managing Environmental , Safety and Quality in their Organisations .

Leading Manufacturers and Suppliers of Safety, Fire Fighting, PPEs equipment, Pollution Control Technology, Consultancies , etc. have been invited as Exhibitors. The Exhibition is open to the Public from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm daily.
