MPMBB APPOINTS OFFICERS TO OVERSEE 11 CONSTITUENCIES IN MELAKA TENGAH

AYER KEROH : The Melaka Municipal Council (MPMBB) has appointed direct officers to oversee the progress and overcome problems in 11 state constituencies in Melaka Tengah.

Their appointment was announced by Chief Minister Datuk Wira Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam, who is also the Yang Dipertua of the MPMBB.

The officers are Mohd Sharif Mohd (Banda Hilir), Rasol Manan (Ayer Keruh), Saadon Hamid (Ayer Molek), Zainab Tambi (Bachang), Fahmi Umar (Paya Rumput), Ab.Malek Ghani (Tangga Batu), Narizam Yusof (Duyong), Kamarulzaman Ahmad (Sg.Udang), Ibrahim Osman (Tengkera), Juhari Muhammad (Durian Daun) and Zainuddin Mohd Noh (Alai).

MPMBB secretary Baharom Majid said the responsibilities of the direct officers include review, coordinate and resolve the infrastructure and cleanliness of their respective constituencies.

"Their duties include looking after drains, monsoon drains rebuilding, expansion and repairs, maintenance of damaged roads as well as grass cutting by private contractors appointed by Southern Waste Management (SWM)," he said.

Baharom said the planting of flower trees in suitable areas for beautification, the sitting of public lightings, land and soil erosions are also under their purview.

He said the officers were also required to report any illegal extensions to the buildings, coordinate programmers, campaigns and functions in their designated areas.

Baharom said the direct officers also need to equip with the plans of the roads according to agencies, drains and monsoon drains, the housing estates and the number of houses, shops, stalls, religious places, schools, community halls, playing fields and football fields.

He said the officers would also represent the council in the constituency meeting and take the necessary follow-up actions.

"The direct officer will be required to prepare work schedule of the workers, progress work of the contractors as well as monitor the requests by the

various village security committees, residents associations and welfare associations and submit a report to the council," Baharom said.

Mohd Ali, while presenting the camera to the 11 officers hoped they would carry out their entrusted duties well.
