HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY

"You should not keep what is not yours. Honesty is the best policy and it should be in everybody's nature," aid Raila Md Yunus, a room attendant at Century Mahkota Hotel Melaka.

When she came across RM500 cash in one room that she was cleaning, she did not hesitate to hand over the find to the hotel management.

For honesty, the hotel's Executive Assistant Manager Edward Lau rewarded her with a certificate of merit and a cash token during the hotel's fourth anniversary celebration.

General Manager, Robert Atlee and Assistant Housekeepers Teresa Yong and Kamisah Mat Jenin witnessed the presentation.

Raila who joined the hotel in 1996 said that she offend found small amount of cash in the guest rooms while cleaning them and he never hesitated in returning the money to the rightful owners.

Lau commended Raila for her honesty and hoped that her colleagues will emulate her good deed.

Meanwhile all the staff who have been with the hotel since its inception joined hands to cut a 8kg chocolate cake in conjunction with the hotel's fourth anniversary celebration.

Department heads including Atlee and Lau took the liberty to serve the staff that enjoyed a delicious high tea spread laid out for them.

In his speech, Atlee thanked the staff for their loyalty, sincerity and devotion and without the strong concerted efforts to the staff, century Mahkota Hotel would not be what it is today, a brand mark in the hospitality industry.

With the grassroots support of the staff, Century Mahkota Hotel has been able to uphold its image as one of the leading hotels in the industry both locally and internationally.
